Host Institution

Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC)

The Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC) is a Severo Ochoa Center of Excellence. ICMAB is located in the Bellaterra Campus of the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB), one of the best universities in Spain according to several international rankings (ARWU, CWUR), providing an excellent environment for the development of the doctoral programme. Since 2009, the UAB Campus has been also recognised as a Campus of International Excellence (Sphere UAB-CIE).

In addition, six partner organisations will be involved in the programme to offer the fellows the perfect interdisciplinary, intersectoral and international environment to carry out their projects and contribute to the programme by co-funding the doctoral fellowships.

All the participating organisations in the programme have an outstanding track record in terms of recruitment and training of doctoral researchers, and they are all endorsed by the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers, ensuring the best possible conditions to enhance the potential and future career perspectives for the recruited researchers.
