Title of the project: Architectured nanoparticles for medical and environment friendly technologies.
Supervisor and Host institution: Prof. Francesc Teixidor at the Institute of Materials Science of Barcelona (ICMAB-CSIC).
The research aims at developing novel nanoparticle systems of various materials and morphologies for a range of environment friendly energy and biological applications. The systems in focus would be primarily magnetic nanoparticles and quantum structures. These particles would then be further decorated with carboranyl ligands to synergically exploit the properties of boron-carbon cluster as well as nanochemistry. The project is directed at developing point-of-care devices for early diagnostic purposes and ‘boron neutron capture therapy’ (BNCT) for cancer treatment.
Hailing from India, graduated from the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) - Pune with BS-MS Dual degree with a distinction. I was fortunate enough to be exposed to an interdisciplinary research environment over the course which ultimately led to a master dissertation on understanding the photophysical properties of quantum dots which culminated in a publication. I have had my research experiences in fields ranging from inorganic to physical chemistry which finally led to my doctoral position. MSCA- DocFam is an ideal opportunity to nourish and widen my aspirations and perspectives.
